| Feeding the babies lets us get other work done |
*Feeding the baby birds is eveyones top choice. We'll teach you how. And when
you take the time to feed the birds, we have time to do other important work. *Fund-raising. *Donating crafts
or baked goods. *General cleaning and work at our facility. *Transporting birds to and from our facility. *We
are also screening for wild bird rehabilitator trainees and/or volunteers to help feed babies and fledglings. If you
think you might like to be a rehabilitator please contact us.

Birds for Young Bird Watchers reading
or science program for grades 3 through 5
Donate a program to your local school. We discovered
that children taken to bird shows were fascinated by the photographs of common birds we displayed and repeatedly asked the
names of birds they had seen in their own back yards. So, we are making available to elementary schools our science/reading
program suitable for grades 3 through 5. The program consists of a single, double sided page with a color
drawing of the bird and information about the bird on the front. On the back is a drawing that can be colored by students
with six true/false questions about what they have read. The reading material covers where the bird lives, what it eats,
where it nests, how big it is, some of its habits and how it helps the earth and people. The answer key is provided
on the back page. This reader is already in some of our local schools and can be used as a fun 15 minute
extra reading program or as an actual science study. The reader has 9 color plates so the program will fit with 6, 8
or 9 week grading periods. Catching the curiosity of young students and allowing them to learn about the
world in their own back yard is a marvelous start to caring, eco-friendly adults. The full set is $40.00
(USD) and comes postage paid with our letter of permission to photocopy as many times as you need so each student has
their own worksheet. Your classrooms will enjoy this program for years to come. If you are purchasing
this as a gift for a school we will be happy to include a gift card with your name as the donor. Please use the form below to order. Thanks!
Speaker for your school Pat will be happy to come and speak at your school about how songbirds help all of us.
Many people are unaware of how songbirds help people avoid Asthma and Allergies, protect our food crops, boost our economy,
and protect our commercial lumber forests. And who would know better than Pat which birds eat what bugs? Give us a phone call to schedule Pat to speak at your school. 574-936-5140
Make a Donation

Why give up your hard earned dollars? You help
'stop the bleeding' when you donate. You see, the people who bring birds in for help, many times children, are
quite upset that their little friend is hurting. We have a different approach here. We don't take the
little bird from the child, we allow the child to help us make the bird better. And, having an open-door policy, we
invite the child and his family to return to watch their rescued bird grow and heal. We lift worry off some
very small shoulders knowing both the little rescuer and the bird will sleep better tonight.
The small, backyard and migratory birds also have a great effect on *Public Health (asthma &
allergies)*Food Crops*Forests (lumber, furniture, hiking)*They eat Pestiferous Insects (many that cause disease)*Scientist
love them as Bio-Indicators (watching them gives us a heads-up on many problems with air and water quality)*They have
Financial Value in Retail, Hospitality, and Eco-Tourism industries, and *They have great Aesthetics value. . Charitable contributions to us are tax deductible. If you would like to help the wild birds please
